Abstract

Sex ratio is an important social indicator to measure the extent of the revailing equity between males and females in a society at a given point of ime. According to times changes in sex ratio largely reflect the underling socioeconomic and cultural aterns of a society in different way. Haryana is amongst he most affected states regarding declining and imbalance of child sex ratio.
Therefore, this state is the main focus area of this study. Thought there are the any reasons behind decline in the child sex ratio, but the most significance is he son preference over daughter in Haryana. There is a continuous decline in the sex ratio of Haryana rom 1981 to 2011, due to many reasons. But census 2011 shows a marginal increase in the sex ratio of aryana, which improve from 861 in 2001 to 877 in 2011. The present paper aims to study the trends and attern of child sex ratio in Haryana and to examine the causes, consequences and will discuss the nitiatives taken by government to improve its sex-ratio in the state. So, the main emphasis of this esearch study is to delineate the past and present situations of the declining sex-ratio in Haryana. GIS arc s used for preparing the maps for showing the results.
