Abstract

Crosstalk due to Four Wave Mixing is the dominant nonlinear effect in long haul multichannel optical communication system which can severely limit system performance. The paper describes the performance analysis of FWM on bit error rate, Q factor, output spectrum and eye opening by varying channel spacing and number of channels. The result shows that the FWM effect reduces with increase in channel spacing and decreases in number of channels. The reduction is more effective for unequal channel spacing than equal channel spacing.
